Cycla Software Articles

The following articles were written by Cycla Corporation and are of general interest (i.e., are not specific to Cycla software systems). White papers that apply only to Cycla's systems are available in a separate list.

Most files are available in Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF). Follow the link below the list of articles to download a free PDF reader from Adobe.

  • "Use Web Connection to Bring Visual FoxPro Applications to the Web", by Randy Pearson, FoxPro Advisor, August 1998 issue. This article presents a product review of West Wind Web Connection, Version 2.51. The article covers the requirements for using the product, describes the type of developer for who the product is suited, and shows developers the basics of how the product can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Visual FoxPro to develop Web-based applications. FoxPro Advisor magazine is published by Advisor Publications (http://www.advisor.com/). Check out the simple web application discussed in that article.

  • "Gain a Backdoor into Your Applications with CODEBLCK.PRG", by J. Randy Pearson, FoxTalk, December 1994 issue. This article presents a FoxPro 2.6 "runtime code block interpreter" written by Mr. Pearson that allows uncompiled blocks of code to be processed at runtime. The FoxTalk magazine is published by Pinnacle Publishing (http://www.pinpub.com/). You can download the CODEBLCK.PRG program itself, which is in the public domain and is heavily commented, directly from us. There is now also a Visual FoxPro 5.0 version with many new functions and capabilities included in our "Visual CodeBlock Toolkit".

  • "Using FoxPro's SQL to Query Databases", by J. Randy Pearson, contains introductory and intermediate information in lesson format on learning how to use the FoxPro 2.6 SQL SELECT statement to query databases.

  • "GENSCRNX References Notes", by J. Randy Pearson, is a companion reference to the GENSCRNX public domain FoxPro utility written by Ken Levy while at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
