Cycla Corporation was formed in 1990 to provide risk management and related technical services to the nuclear power industry and to the Department of Energy’s nuclear weapons programs and national research laboratories. Many of Cycla’s employees have been instrumental in the early development of risk assessment and risk management methods in the nuclear power industry, and have managed and performed many of the earliest probabilistic risk assessments of individual nuclear power facilities sponsored by nuclear utility licensees.

In addition to specific technical analyses and assessments, Cycla has developed a variety of methods and information systems to apply risk information to management decision-making including systems supporting risk-based resource allocation to improve safety, prioritization of maintenance activities, etc.

In 1994, Cycla began providing risk management support services to the Department of Transportation, where we have been an integral part of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) program to promote risk management and improved safety and environmental protection programs in the hazardous liquid and natural gas industries.
